This new direction follows organizational reforms at the government-backed institute, including the stepping down of its ex-leader last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and official demands for comprehensive reform.
Rising Online Risks
The new mission comes amid rising apprehension about Britain's vulnerability to digital service failures and digital assaults.
Recent situations have highlighted these risks, including a widespread failure affecting worldwide digital services and latest online threats that affected operations at significant plants and logistics systems across multiple companies.
Leadership and Oversight
A previous senior officer of the UK's air and space warfare centre will deliver recommendations next month on how the state-backed organization can most effectively assist the scope of official artificial intelligence goals in national security, national security and information gathering.
Organizational Refocusing
The organization's leader, a ex-Amazon UK executive, confirmed that 78 different research projects at the 440-staff institute have been closed, spun out or completed because they fail to match with the new direction.
