Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important official stated the attack left him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
